HOW TO PAY MORE THAN THREE TIMES THE ORIGINAL PRICE FOR A RUGBY TICKET

Be extremely wary if you decide to buy rugby tickets through the VIAGOGO website. I was stupid enough to do so, and totally unnecessary at that. Emptor caveat! Viagogo advertised 2 tickets for the Port Elizabeth rugby Test SA vs Australia on 29 Sept 2018 on their website at R547 each. I assumed that that was the face value of the tickets, and in a sought after area on the stands (given the price). There was no indication of the SARU price, or stand location of the tickets. I ordered the tickets on 21 September, and paid the amount of R 1 623 for the two tickets, including so-called booking fees and delivery by courier to the Tsitsikama area. I thought it was an extremely high premium (for R547 tickets) but went ahead. When the tickets arrived, it was in a Computicket sleeve, and it were cheap R250 tickets, high on the North Stand behind the posts. Viagogo never stated that it were R250 tickets.THEY SLAPPED A WHOPPING AMOUNT OF R1 123 ONTO THE FACE VALUE (R500) OF THE TWO TICKETS. (Ironically, there were thousands of empty seats). A fair amount could have been R375 per ticket, at R811-50 it is a massive rip-off. I could have phoned my friend In PE to buy the tickets at Computicket or Checkers and would have paid R1000 less. I can only assume that VIAGOGO sent someone to Computicket to buy the tickets for R250 each, more than trebled this amount and smiled al the way to the bank. One can only contact them via internet, and the computer keep sending back meaningless replies. Their head offices are in Dubai and Geneva anyway, it seems.
