Cheating a child

My grandson, Mats turned 13 in March this year. He had a birthday party and he got some money from his friends. For the first time in his life he had some money! He immediately decided that he will use his money to treat his father - as a birthday gift - to a rugby game at Newlands. They both are Bulls supporters and the Bulls played the Stormers on the 5th of May at Newlands.

Mats and his mother went on the internet and landed at the Viagogo website. They picked tickets that were advertised for R300 each - this was what Mats could afford. Then things turned bad - he got an invoice for 66 UK pounds - more than R1100 for the two tickets! This amount included delivery fee and admin costs - according to Viagogo…

When the tickets arrived there was another surprise: The face value of the tickets was R100 each! You should have seen Mats’s face when he realised he had to pay about R1160 for R200 worth of tickets. He could not afford it and had to borrow money from his mother – which he may be able to pay back in a year’s time when he has another party.
