VFS global make travel impossible

I require a VISA to travel to Portugal on 25 June 2018 (two days short of one month away). The first available appointment is on 15 June 2018 - more than two weeks away. Just to get an appointment, just to drop of forms. Today is 30 May 2018. VFS global has a warning which says "there are unforeseen delays in the processing of applications. These may then take more than the usual two weeks". VFS global has a number to call if there is a problem with appointment times ( ********** 3000). The number does not work. Does this mean that it is impossible to get a visa within 26 days to go to Portugal? Must I cancel all my plans, and those of my friends, and seek refunds, because I cannot get a VISA? It's impossible even to find out.
