Vfs Global cost me a lot of extra expense and STRESS on recent visit to Croatia

<p>I planned a trip to Croatia to take part in Ironman 70.3 in Pula 18th Sept 2016.</p> <p>On investigation of travel routes I found that to fly to Venice and hire a car to drive to Pula was the most cost effective travel arrangement. Also I planned a short visit to friends in Musalente, Italy on my return.</p> <p> </p> <p>I was told Croatia was part of the EU and as I was spending more time in Croatia than Italy app**** to Vfs Global for a VISA. They did not inform me that the visa supp**** would not be Schengen and therefore not allow me into Italy. The information supp**** to the visa service was flights ending in Venice and a car hire to drive to Pula, Croatia. They happily took my money and issued me with a Croatian visa.</p> <p>I flew from Cape Town to Dubai, when I tried to board my flight Venice the officials refused me to board as I only had the Croatian visa (which I had thought was Schengen as they are part of the EU).</p> <p> </p> <p>I had to book a new flight with Turkish airlines and fly to Istanbul then catch a flight to Zagreb and bus to Pula and return the same way due to the fact that I had the incorrect visa.</p> <p>This extra excursion ahs cost me R30000 extra.</p> <p>Plus I did not get see my friends in Italy.</p> <p> </p> <p>What recourse to have against Vfs Global issuing me with a visa that they knew would not allow me to travel on my planned itinery?</p>
