Robotic and unhelpful.

My (Thai) wife and I recently moved back to South Africa to take care of my parents. It used to be easy to get her a 60 day extension on her visa while applying for a relatives visa (for the first time since being married). We got married 5 April 2014. When we went to Home Affairs to have our marriage certificate issued, we found out our marriage was never logged and that they also don't do visas anymore, we have to go through VFS.

I've been trying to follow the very complicated instructions but to no avail. When I eventually got through to a human being on the phone, she gave me the address to the very illusive online application form. "Page not found"

I emailed them and was just told to follow the online procedure which is so redundant and confusing in itself.

All I want is to meet person to person with someone who can actually just tell me what documents we need and submit them in person. I have asked for that.

Now she has to go back to Thailand at the cost of R18300 because no-one at VFS is willing to actually help and advise me. I am not an immigration or visa expert. How any lay person can understand the language on their website is beyond me.
