Permanent residency - rectification of date of birth taking months!

Good Day.,

i submitted my permanent residency for rectification last year September. I have not hear anything since. All they need to do is swap number in my birth date. I need to travel abroad, can I use a copy of my permanent residency to come back into the country. I would like to have some feedback. Please I need to travel abroad.
