No response feedback

I app**** for a PR permit in September 2014 and was told it would take 8 months. It has now been almost EIGHTEEN MONTHS with no response and no feedback whatsoever. Even now the VFS website gives 8 months as the minimum processing time. I suppose there is no maximum?? - that just leave room for inefficiency. The VFS call centre just tells you to call back in 2 weeks or check the website or contact the DHA call centre. The DHA call centre tells you to check with VFS website or call back in 2 weeks.

There should be some useful feedback - how far is the process? What is holding it up? The apparent disconnect between DHA and VFS is just frustrating. Ever since I app**** for it I have spent over R10000 in renewing temp visas, including a 3-month long forced trip to my home country, leaving my young children here. They should not make promises that they cannot keep! For all the people who flood this country with no paper whatsoever the least they can do is make the process straight forward for those of us who are willing to get legal standing.

Hello mercy.manyema,

Please note that the application is still under processing at the Department of Home Affairs.

The Department of Home Affairs cannot guarantee the outcome or the length of time an application takes to process; neither can it guarantee the return of decision within a certain timeframe. This is due to the fact that applications are assessed individually and individual circumstances can mean processing times may vary and result in longer decision times. Therefore you are requested to wait until a decision on the application is taken since VFS Global does not have any control over the processing times.

Best regards,
