Lost application fee due to bad advice from VFS
Based on advice I got from VFS by phone, I helped my Italian partner make an online appointment to extend his 1 yr critical skills visa. We app**** under \Change of Conditions\", as advised by VFS agent. She confirmed the category and that we only needed to submit an abridged list of documents as listed under 12 month visa extension on your website. But the checklist we got after completing the form gave the full list.

I called VFS this morning to ask why there was this discrepancy, and spoke to Fortunate. She told me the first advice was incorrect, we needed to submit the full list. However, she seemed unsure and said she would call me back by 10 (which never happened)

A lawyer then advised that we were given incorrect advice, the category needed to be \"Change of Existing Visa Conditions\". I called VFS to change the category, but Miranda said we had to cancel and start over. She assured me we would get a full refund as the appointment was more than 48 hrs away. However, when we cancelled it said we could only get R500 refund, instead of R1350. It is unfair that VFS should penalise us for bad advice they gave. I would still like them to confirm the category we need to apply under."
