Application status check a complete disaster

I app**** for a Schengen visa through french embassy two weeks ago and I've not been able to track my case status on the website. It just shows no record the whole time. I understand that VFS is not the embassy and they don't know the status of my visa application, but showing "no record" is really unacceptable. They should at least know where my passport is, even showing "in process at embassy" is better than nothing. Now I have to leave in two days and I'm still just getting "no record" " we don't know what's going on" as response.
