15 Months and Waiting

What used to take 10 minutes talking to DHA at the service counter when submitting applications now takes a YEAR or more and thousands of Rand due to VFS's involvement.

Simple things like having them tell you what additional documents DHA want or facts like you cannot apply as a family for permanent residence and that the children can only apply once the parent has theirs approved.

We also just found out that my permanent residence permit will probably be rejected due to needing a valid TRP (which of course expired 3 months after we app**** for a renewal). VFS won't tell you that though, just happily take your money. Any rectifications will then take a YEAR or more to appeal.

I used to renew my spousal temporary permit in 2 months with DHA. Now with VFS in place I've been waiting for a renewal since we app**** in October 2014 and had to appeal again in January 2015 to include bank statements (which we did within 10 days). Still waiting!

VFS must go! They've broken the system. We cannot live trapped indefinitely like this. Use the money for actual DHA employees who can adjudicate visas and permits in a timely manner!
