Dangerous Kitty scratching posts

<p>I purchased a Cosmic Pets cat scratching post a month ago from Vet & Pet n Woodmead Retail Park in Sandton, for a kitten we had rescued as she only has three paws. She is 6 months old and weighs 6 kgs. It is a tall one with a bed at the top which she sleeps in. It is about 1.8m high. The top of the scratching post fell off while the kitten was on the top. Luckily she managed to jump across to the bed and was not hurt. Also luckily, the top of it never hit one of our dogs sleeping below. On examination the next day, the round posts are made of a hard cardboard tube! The nails used to hold it I. Place has torn through the cardboard tube and that is why it came apart. I paid R2900 for this, thinking it would be a quality purchase that would last. Never mind inferior quality. My kitten used it for one month. She is 2 kgs. I have a smaller one at home that broke last week. Guess what the brand it. Cosmic Pets! Also a cardboard tube. I advise any pet person not to purchase these products until their quality has improved from cardboard to wood! I want a full refun and am being told they want to replace it. I have two broken ones already! Though Vet and Pet have been friendly they are not forthcoming with a refund and are offering a voucher. Not interested. I need another scratching post. And not a Cosmic Pets brand which is all they sell. I think they should re-look at the brands they sell and only stock goods that are safe for pets. Is that not their clientele!!!!</p>
