Unpaid working hours

Greetings extended, my name is Mandla Bhengu 24 years of age, from Mkuze KZN. Last year (2019) I worked for a certain company for a 3 months contract of which I couldn't finish.

My situation back did not allow me to continue working, as broke as I was and being very far from home for the first time I had to do means to survive and maybe make it to work energetic next morning. So I left for home while haven't been paid hence this was one of the reasons I had to leave the contract, this company is Verimark located at Boardwalk mall, inside Game store, Richards Bay, KZN.

I contacted the company a few days back and they called me back saying I should write another email explaining " why I left and why do I enquiry for this payment at this time, do I have an ID, tax reference number " , of which I have sent these documents to them early this year and I have been waiting until now, I would like to know from #Hellopeter if I am wrong for requesting a payment I never received.
