Stay away from Verimark!!!!

after today, I am sure i have found the company with the absolute worst customer service i SA. so on the 5th of January this year me and my family went to Verimark Tygervalley to go buy my son a Drifter 3 in 1 toy remote control car which we saw advertised online. when we got to the store, we were told that the toy was actually priced at R1000 and that the price of R600 was only for online purchases. I refuse to accept that and showed the sales person that even Takealot was selling their exact same toy product for R600 as well. i couldn't understand how a company that makes a product can sell u that product at almost double the price it advertises the same product for, online and while their resellers (takealot) also sells for halve the price. the sales person then phoned head office and explained the situation. he was then told that he can give me the toy at the online price which was R600. so my son was very happy in the end. or so i thought. firstly, the battery needs to charge for 2 hours or more just to be able to play with it for 10-15min then having to charge it again. that was already enough for me to take it back but my son wanted it so i left it. then one of the wheels' pop in sockets kept popping out and has to be popped back in every few minutes of playing. this isn't normal and surely a defect. furthermore, one of the 3 attachments (bubbles, water & darts), the one that is suppose to blow bubbles never worked right out of the box. because of all this, the toy has been laying in the box for more than 2 weeks with my son not playing with it. so today i decided to return the product. i went to their Cape Gate branch as this is the closest one to us. even with everything perfectly in the box in the plastic and in neat condition and providing the receipt, i was told that Verimark has a no guarantee policy on their toy products. i was shocked and told the sales person that if i knew that or was told that by the person who sold it, i would have never bought this from them. i told her that if i bought this exact same product (their product) from Takealot, i would've been able to return it, no questions asked. Takealot has never had any issues returning any products and has excellent, unmatched customer service. i asked the sales person if she could call her manager or any superior to help. she then called her manager which simply said sorry there is nothing they could do. its policy. she then called Verimark customer service, which were extremely rude and refused to speak to me directly when i asked to speak with her. she also said sorry, she stands by their no guarantee or return policy on toys. i am absolutely gobsmacked by this. Verimark' own Guarantee Policy on the receipt states "Verimark offers a general 15 day money back guarantee for most products, INCLUDING TOYS, provided they are returned in their original condition and packaging". even though my product falls just over the 15 days, it should still qualify for a return as their policy also states "If a product develops a manufacturing defect within 6 months of the purchase date, Verimark will conduct a technical assessment. if a defect is confirmed, you have the the option of a repair, exchange or a refund". They didn't even open the box to check when i was there. i was simply told they have a no guarantee policy on toys and that is that. unbelievable!! and this for a toy they originally sold and wanted to sell to me for R1000! only to find out they dont give guarantee on any of their ****py products!! even though, according to their own written policy, this is not the case. i have launched a complaint under the consumer protection act today as well as this is simply unacceptable and *********. worst service imaginable!!! and it sounds like none of their staff has any clue about their policies. stay far, far away from Verimark! they are *********, unprofessional and extremely helpful!!!

Good day Julius,Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We sincerely apologise for the frustration, disappointment, and inconvenience you and your family have experienced. This is certainly not the level of service we aim to provide, and we truly understand your concerns, especially as this involved your child. We acknowledge how upsetting it must have been to feel unsupported when you tried to return the toy, and we regret that this matter was not communicated in a clear and empathetic manner at the branch. Please allow us to clarify our policy as published on our website and terms and conditions. While Verimark offers a general 15-day money-back guarantee on most products, toys may only be returned within 15 days if a defect is present, the unit can be confirmed by staff, and the item is in its original packaging. This information is available on our website:
https://www.verimark.co.za/product/i-play-drifter-3-in-1/We also acknowledge your concern that the product was not assessed at the time of your visit, and we sincerely apologise for how this was handled and communicated. Your feedback regarding the service received has been noted and will be escalated to management for further review and staff coaching. We value your feedback, as it helps us improve our service and customer experience. Once again, we are truly sorry for the disappointment caused.Kind regards,
The Verimark team

this is absolutely unbelievable!! firstly, this is NOT what your policy states on the receipt!!! i dont care what it says on your website, the policy printed on your own receipt says differently. first i was told you have a zero guarantee policy on toys, then you tell me its only if returned within 15 days. Either way, any product that costs that amount of money and doesnt have any sort of guarantee after 15 days, is a product that should be avoided at all cost! especially a toy that children play with. secondly, if this was CLEARLY communicated by the sales person or in store, I would've never bought this in the first place!! and if i had followed my gut and just purchased this through Takealot, i wouldn't sit with this now. how can Takealot accept returns on this but you cant? my issues with this product is clearly manufacturing defects and the product only 25 days after purchase and should obviously qualify for a return. anywhere else this is policy. obviously Verimark has zero trust in their products nor do they care if customers end up with defected products with zero recourse. i will not leave this here. this is beyond ********* and in my opinion, ilegal. apart from the defects on the product, i brought it back with all accessories, in plastic and in the box. no signs of misuse or abuse of the product. but u couldn't even be bothered to open it and check. i will post on all social media about this so people know what kind of company you are. your neatly worded reply means nothing if your actions doesnt back it up.

Good day Julius,
Thank you for your response and for sharing your concerns. We understand your frustration, and we sincerely apologise for the experience you have had. While our policy does not allow refunds on toys, the Area Manager has approved a once-off goodwill gesture. You are welcome to exchange the goods for the same value as a gesture of goodwill. Please note that no refund will be issued. You may visit Verimark Tygervalley, return the complete Toys, and the proof of purchase, where Bradley will assist you accordingly. We appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention and trust that this resolution will assist. Kind regards,
The Verimark Team

please clarify the following for me, which is directly from Verimark's own return policy:

1. "Verimark offers a general 15 day money back guarantee for most products, INCLUDING TOYS, provided they are returned in their original condition and packaging"

2. "If a product develops a manufacturing defect within 6 months of the purchase date, Verimark will conduct a technical assessment. if a defect is confirmed, you have the the option of a repair, exchange or a refund"

In your previous reply you again stated that Verimark does not offer refunds on any toy products, which I heard from all your representatives so far. So please explain to me like Im a 5 year old, what it means when it states on your return policy that came attached to my receipt, "including toys". because the way I interpret it, and Im sure most customers do, is that toys are infact covered by your return policy and that you do offer a money back guarantee. Dont send me a link on your website somewhere where you list some sort of fine print that no one reads. What I see and what all your customers see, is what is printed on and with a receipt. According to what you give a customer after a purchase, nl receipt, your return policy sounds pretty normal and straight forward. only to realise afterwards just how ********* Verimark actually is. Thank you for your "offer of good will" but I realy dont want another product from Verimark. exchanging one sub-par, no guarantee product for another one isnt going to fix anything for me. Im just glad that this conversation is op this platform for all south africans to see.

Good day Julius,We acknowledge receipt of your message and will address your questions directly. The wording on the receipt reflects Verimark’s general returns framework, which applies across all product categories. The phrase “including toys” means that toys are not automatically excluded from returns; however, they are subject to specific conditions. To clarify plainly:
  • Verimark does not offer a guarantee or refunds on toy products once they have been used.
  • The 15-day money-back guarantee only applies to toys that are unused, unopened, and returned within 15 days.
  • The 6-month manufacturing defect provision requires a technical assessment. In this case, the product was used and returned outside the 15 days, and therefore does not qualify for a refund.
Accordingly, the product does not meet the requirements for a refund under Verimark policy.Notwithstanding this, management approved a once-off goodwill exchange as an exception. This offer was extended purely as a gesture of goodwill and not as an admission of liability. No refund will be issued. This remains Verimark’s final position on the matter.Should you wish to proceed with the approved exchange, Verimark Tygervalley remains available to assist. Otherwise, we consider this matter closed.Kind regards,
The Verimark Team

Your latest reply highlights exactly the problem. The fact that you just explained the fine print which isnt on the gaurantee printed with the receipt, shows exactly just how ********* you are. Toys which is unopened? So that excludes just about all toys. It all makes sense. I also wouldnt give gaurantees on sub-par, ****py products. I say again, stay far away from any Verimark products. Just reading through some of the complaints on this site, makes it crystal clear what Verimark's stance is on their evidently poor products.
