Poor service delivery

I bought a genesis Iron about11 months ago at Verimark, the iron was not the best buy as it burnt my clothing and the steam button stopped working. I took it back (in the box with the receipt, I did however take long to return the item) to Verimark in Cape gate last week Friday (11.09.2020). One of the employees informed me that it would take 2-3 MONTHS for the iron to be repaired/ evaluated in JHB. That is a very long time just to repair an iron that costed R700!!!!! I informed the employee that I do not have 2-3 months so what would the other alternative be?? He then called the manager and he explained that it will take 21 working days. I requested a copy of the returns policy as I was given different information by the employees, but the shop was offline so the policy link was emailed to me as I requested. The policy stated the following: "What can I do if the goods are defective?

If your goods turn out to be defective within the first 6 months after you received them from us, we will repair them, replace them or give you a refund, provided that it is a material defect, and that the defect did not develop as a result of abuse, fair wear and tear, or through not following our or the manufacturer’s instructions.

If your goods show a defect after the initial 6 month period, but still within the manufacturer’s warranty period, Verimark will send the goods to the manufacturer for repair and the manufacturer will decide whether you have a valid claim and if so, whether they will repair or replace.

If the goods become defective once the manufacturer’s warranty has expired, we can arrange with the manufacturer or its agent to repair them. No repairs will be done without you approving a quotation first".

No where does it say 2-3 months or 21 working days. I do not understand why I paid R700 for an iron that provided a poor service and why I have to wait so long for a solution. The manager was not even bothered about what I had to say he was just going on about a policy and pointed out that if I do not collect the item within 30 days it will be sold etc.

I am disappointed at the service received and that the manager had no empathy towards the situation. This is ridiculous that I have to buy a replacement iron in the interim. Verimark needs to work on their employees customer relationship!
