Vericredit are charges permissible
I wouldn’t like to know how a collections agency used by Ampath can charge 50% additional charges to an account from Ampath. Is this legal, any guidance would be appreciated. My elderly fathers Ampath account was handed over before they even knew the medical aid didn’t pay the bill now from owing R305 now they owe R460.08. I’m sure I read something about the fees charged being limited.
Good day, thank you for your report. The collection charges are perfectly legal and legit. When a debtor/consumer's overdue account is handed over for collection to a debt colelctor due to non-payment, there will naturally be charges involved in accordance with the Debt Collectors Act, 114 of 1998. VeriCred is registered with the Council for Debt Collectors as well as the Association of Debt Recovery Agents (ADRA). Our charges are strictly in adherence to the laid down procedures as stipulated in the Act. The relevant charges by a Debt Collector is evident on the Council's website for your perusal: www.cfdc.org.za. These charges are exclusive of VAT. Regards, VeriCred Collections
