*********** APPARENTLY FROM VERICRED

I have received a phone call from someone who claims they work for Vericred to inform me that I have an account that's in arrears at an institute where I studied 11 years ago. First of all, neither I nor my parents have received any statement of account in 11 years. I am not listed on ITC and the caller told me that they cannot give me a statement as that would be charged to my account? They only had my work landline and not my cell no nor my email address or my current surname. I phoned back and someone answered in a way that does not sound like a debt collecting company - and the initial call I received was from a cellphone number and not a landline. The person was very rude and could not give me any details regarding the account that's supposedly in arrears. Last year I received a call from the same company - and haven't received any statement since? Where do these people get hold of my work landline? This is my 5th job since I've studied at the institution where I apparently have debt. It is scary what ************ can get a hold of. Very irritated and disgusted.

Good day Christine S, thank you for your report. Further to your comments, please take cognisance of the fact that Tshwane University of Technology handed your outstanding account over for collection, inclusive of all relevant information and details, and not the other way around. VeriCred Collections have been in operation for 30 years and by no means are "************" as you claim on this forum. Be that as it may, we have consulted with the institution in question and after investigtions they requested that the account be closed. Thus, for any further information or enquiries in this regard, please contact TUT directly. Thank you.
