Pathetic Vericred - are they even legit?

PATHETIC!!! Telephone nr doesn't even exist HOW CAN YOU DO A CREDIT SEARCH ON A DECEASED PERSON????? AFTER DEATH CERTIFICATE + BI1663 was submitted to Ampath. An account for R1687,00 was submitted to the executors and Ampath was informed. A Debt Collector can "buy" a bunch of outstanding debts and make money from such collections the way you are operating is NOT in correspondence with the NCA You charged R24.15 and R16.10 for a Credit Bureau search, This person is DECEASED in 2019 with all your emails sent + sms sent charges. I am saying to you that you only charged those amounts and you did not do the actual check, you would have picked up this person is deceased. Several emails was sent to Ampath with the death certificate and BI1663 attached. Vericred my advice to you is get a copy of the Consumer Protection Act, and the National Credit Act, sent your staff for proper training and this kind of insident will not happen as it reflects bad on your Company Profile - Adre

Hello ADRE R******, further to your comments, please take cognisance that yes, we surely are legit and have been in operation in excess of 30 years. Contrary to your allegations, you claim that the accountholder is 'deceased in 2019' already and that the proof was provided to our client, yet they handed the account over for collection only in JULY 2020!  To set the record straight, we also do not "buy" the debt as you claim on this forum, it was handed over by our client due to non payment. In addition, have you at any stage since the account was handed over in 2020 submitted any relevant proof to our agents in this regard? We formally put on record that we have NOT received any death certificate since account was handed over from you or any one else. Be that as it may, further to your assumptions, the relevant fees and costs (and yes , that includes credit bureau search)  are strictly in accordance with the Debt Collectors  Act, 114 of 1998 Annexure B and is standing procedures on ALL accounts handed over for collection. Please fami****ise yourself with the relevant charges by a debt collector by referring to the Council for Debt Collector's website for your perusal: www.cfdc.org.za. In lieu of the aforementioned, we shall arrange for an agent to contact you and request the death certificate as a matter of urgency to proof deceased status in order to have the account closed and retracted from collection. In the interim a 'hold' was placed on the account pending the required documentation received.
