Foschini has placed my account in with Vericredit and I am battling to get assistance on the reduced settlement amount. I have been communicating with Vericred for the last few months now about my situation that I was retrenched in 2012 and since, the amount they want from me is too high and I cannot afford it. I need to request for a reduced settlement amount for this account. Now I am ready to see if I can settle but they are not even able to meet me half way, all I'm asking for is a discount on exorbitant cost already charged, I just need them to help me get out of this situation as it makes it difficult for me to find employment. I went through a difficult time and could not pay my accounts, I would like to pay it now, I just need assistance. Do you prefer to have a client pay R150 a month and have the debt written off after a couple of years?? Is it not better that I am willing to pay? They are now saying that Foschini is not allowing discount but when I enquired with Foschini they advised they would have liked to help but the matter is no longer on their hands but have no problem if Vericred gives a discount. You are my last hope

Further to your comments and assumptions and to set the record straight, please take cognisance of the fact that there is NO mandate to offer any discount on our client's capital portion as you have been informed on numerous occasions. You have also in the past been provided with settlement balances whereby discount was offered which you never paid. On an exemplary basis and as a gesture of goodwill we can offer 50% discount on the outstanding interest and the relevant branch will be requested to contact you in that regard. Should you also not accept this offer, the whole outstanding amount coupled with interest and legal collection cost accrued will become payable by you.
