Extra-Judicial Harassment
I was a customer of VOX.
I provided one calendar months’ notice of termination a month to month contract that was in its third year. VOX then purported to charge me a R300 termination fee. I informed VOX that there is no basis to charge a termination fee on a month to month contract - especially after due notice of termination. In this regard, pursuant to section 14 of the Consumer Protection Act - no such fee is chargeable for a month to month contract.
VOX handed over the supposed account VeriCred. They now continue to harass me with constant calls. I have told them to stop calling me and go to court if they want - and explained why no debt is owing. However, they continue to harass me and simply ignore the fact that I have explained no legitimate debt is owing. They continue to tack on ******** additional charges to the R300 as well.
I am now going to report this matter to the Council for Debt Collects and the National Consumer Commission. I am also considering obtaining a protection order under the Protection from Harassment Act.
They may be able to take advantage of many innocent people, but I am a Lawyer and an Advocate and will not be bul**** by their extra-judicial and ******** conduct.

Please take cognisance that your overdue account was handed over for collection by VOX due to non-payment by you and as such it is not a matter of "extra-judicial harassment" as you claim on this forum. If your concerns and claims were taken up with them, they would have instructed us to close file and withdraw the account in question if indeed the case.
Be that as it may, we are investigating with our client and your allegations were forwarded to them. As a result we await their further instructions in this regard. In the interim a 'hold' was placed on the account pending clarity and feedback received from VOX.

02 Mar 2022, 17:52The simple fact you do not understand is that I have told your representatives on numerous occasions via email and telephone, that I dispute liability and will not make payment. I have advised them to go to court if they want payment. In these circumstances, what purpose is served by continuing to call me? I have already said I will not make payment. The way to resolve this sort of dispute is not through a consistent barrage of telephone calls. My position is not going to change. This is precisely what courts are for. This is tantamount to sending a letter of demand and then when the opposing lawyer says we will not pay - sending 10 more letters of demand and making numerous calls thereafter - if the position of the other party was never made clear. This is unheard off and would be high-handed and illogical.
