Amounts owed, suddenly increased!!

I have had an account that was not paid. I asked on numerous times for a copy of a statement so I could check that it was not already been paid. I eventually got a statement last week. Today I agreed start the process only to be told that the amount on the statement and the amount owed are 2 different amounts. So I budgeted to settle the account on information given last week and now suddenly it doubled. Covid affected incomes and a lot of us are still trying to get on our feet again. Please show compassion and mercy!

Good day Keith C, thank you for your review.
Our records reflect that you have 4 (FOUR) overdue accounts handed over for collection (two pathologist and two medical clinic accounts respectively) and not only "one account that was not paid" as is alleged. Kindly note that contrary to your comments, there is no evidence of any amount or balance that  'doubled' in a week as you claim. The balances of the 4 respective accounts differ but not one 'doubled' and we note on one account there is no payment made since handover.
As your accounts were handed to a debt collector, there are legal collection costs in addition that may result in a balance to differ e.g. from a week ago, however, no 'double' balance.
VeriCred is registered witht he Coumcil for Debt Collectors and all our charges are strictly in adherence to laid down legislation. The relevant costs charged is evident on the Council's website for your perusal: www.cfdc.org.za.
Kindly note that to avoid confusion, the relevant details of the accounts in question will be forwarded to yourself in due course. Should you have made any payments in the interim the relevant proof can be forwarded to investigate.
Kind regards.

Best regards,
