Debt Recovery Cal Center - Verclaim and veridebt

I received a call from a company called VeriDebt claiming that I have an outstanding bill with a specialist.

The consultant was exceptionally rude and insisted on me verifying my details before they could share the reason for the call (who does that in a day and age where ***** is rife).

I managed to get the name of the specialist after much difficulty and i proceeded to contact the specialists rooms.

it turned out that there was an amount of R250.00 outstanding.

the rooms however never contacted me to inform me of the outstanding payment. they apparently have a private company handling the accounts.

when i contacted that company (Vericlaim), they advised they ''tried'' contacting me .

when i asked on which number, they quoted the incorrect digits. Apparently, they tried asking the practice for additional contact details, which the practice did not share.

here again, i called the practice to verify, and they have all my correct details on file.

so vericlaim, conveniently hands me over to veridebt...who successfully contacted me (that is strange is me!!!) to pay a bill of R1560.00

so the lady at verclaim said ''thats a ridiculous amount'', i should pay (R317.00 including handing over fees) and she will send the proof to veridebt and ask them to stop calling me...hmmm.

i asked why should i pay handover fees, i was never informed by the practice, or yourself...but that did phase her!

so i made the payment and sent off the proof.

i was cheated as South African citizen, imagine how many others are too.

watch out for companies claiming they have called and hand you over to pay not R250. but R1350.00 instead.
