This firm took advantage of our situation

Our house was being sold as a distress sale and these people were appointed as the lawyers. The process was meant to be wrapped up more than 2 weeks ago but then they told us it would take 2 weeks to receive the money even though the bank had transferred the money to them that same week. When we tried to communicate with them to get an answer, we would be met with silence or vague words that didn't tell the whole story. My mother got so tired with the secrecy and suspicious behaviour that she drove all the way to their Pretoria branch to get answers. She wouldn’t have been helped if not for a lawyer who saw her in the reception area. It's quite clear they didn’t want to pay us right away, so they could get some interest on that money sitting in their account. Absolute ******! Finally, we've received our share of the proceeds but the conveyancing secretary who had been managing our case shared the proof of payment not just with us but the estate agent who listed the house. The secretary (why have we been communicating with a secretary who clearly doesn’t know anything this whole time?) was very abrasive when confronted about her lack of communication and responsiveness. Terrible law firm, gives lawyers a bad name. If you can help it, don’t consult them for your legal services. If you can't, make sure you have everything in writing and that you stay on their tails everyday even if it gets annoying. Just to prove that they lack people skills.
