Harrassment and aggressive phone calls
I am so aggrieved, my partner lost his job but was able to make payments here and there, he was working on a project with the big telecom company, the client halted the project with the news that he will resume August/sept and he was therefore retrenched. Since end March he then made a few payments here and there until suddenly someone calling himself a Mr. Vusi Sambo calked him arrogantly saying he has 48 hours to make a payment or else he must surrender the car, it didn’t end there immediately there were debt review people saying they were from absa, unprovoked, until suggested that he should check the credit life it will pay for the short period, he’s just only started the process and went back to Vusi to let him know if this new development that he’s pursuing which he’s been in touch with Ava’s credit life and sending documents they require. This unprofessional Vusi calls him from very early morning and in between, my partner even went as far as sending him the correspondence and claim ref to absa which he can easily verify but he keeps asking my partner to tell him how long will that take, he works for absa he says he should know their processes. The form clearly states that it takes 15 days for absa credit to deal with the matter. This unprofessional individual called Mr Sambo keeps calling, never mind that no proper process was followed, my partner immediately lost a family member just after retrenchment and he’s just slipping away from depression due to these unprofessional and early calls. Why can’t he wait for the process to unfold? Absa where is your compassion? He wasn’t even issued with any legal communication, there has been calls made to his phone each morning before 7am and the person will keep quite and suddenly those calls have been replaced by this person called Mr. Vusi who also has a very aggressive tone, I could hear it through my partners call and it wasn’t even in a speaker. He does not avoid his calls because he knows he has an obligation but what answer does he now want if you are told this is the process being followed? It has caused all of us mental anguish in the house and I work from home and I have anxiety and he’s depressed going through interviews yet he’s expected to pick up a call each time he calls despite not having any new information while the application process is still ongoing. Can absa employees or their agents allow the processes to unfold he’s fully aware of his debt hence he kept trying even after the retrenchment because he hadn’t been aware of this credit life that he must pursue.
