Vawda Jewellers Damaged my Fossil watch and refused to take responsibility
My Fossil watch which I use on daily basis had stopped working 3 days ago. Naturally, I assumed it needed a new battery. I Sent it with my work colleague on Saturday 01/10/22, to change the battery, was under the impression that it as taken to the Fossil shop, when it was actually taken to Vawda Jewellers. A gentleman named Aswaad, or something to that effect, removed my back cover and removed the battery. I was meant to meet my colleague at the watch store, as we work in the mall, so I went to the Fossil store, and obviously my colleague was not there. I called my colleague, only to be told that he was at the Vawda store. He then tells me that my there's a problem, a part broken inside my watch, right where the battery was removed. So I was furious at this point, firstly because,I always take my Fossil watch to the Fossil store to have the battery changed. My colleague then tells me that they now cannot put the back cover of the watch because it's bent. So I went to the Vawda store and the manager, Femida, was busy with my watch. I told them, that nothing was broken and all I needed was a battery change. The manager asked me if I wanted to book the watch in for repairs. I said NO. Please can I have it back.she returned my watch back to me in 2 pieces, because she couldn't put it back together. I took the watch to Fossil store and the lady assisting me, said that the person that removed the battery likely broke the piece, and the back cover being bent was caused forcefully when they tried to seal the watch. At this point I had to book my watch in for repairs at the Fossil store, and was quoted R670. I went back to the Vawda store and told the gentleman that they will be liable for payment as they had damaged my watch. I am prepared to pay the R 70 for the battery but not for the damages that they caused. They refused to accept responsibility. The manager Femida, refused to accept responsibly and the owner Shabeer also refused to accept responsibility, telling me that my watch was broken before they even opened it.I guess this is what you get for dealing with small businesses that have no after service and they brush you off . Makes me wonder how they stay in business, by deliberately breaking customers stuff and then wanting to charge us for the repairs.Take note that my watch was never dropped. which now leaves me with no choice but to log an official complaint. These useless people should not be changing batteries as it's clear that they don't know how too.I am furious that they won't even take responsibility for what they did . And I have no joy from them to come up with some sort of conclusion. Please can you assist as I am now inconvenienced and have to fork up money to pay for damages NOT done by myself and not have a watch for 6/8 weeks while it's being repaired. My request is that Vawda Jewellers take responsibly for their negligence and pay the R600 that I was quoted for the repairs and I will pay for the replacement of R70 for the battery. Their details are Vawda Jewellers, shop 10, Pavilion shopping centre. Phone number: ***. Email: ***.
