Varsity college Sandton incompetence

It is that time of the year again , where I do not know whether to be happy or worry. Every year for the past four years, I've had to take my child to the doctor and I am sitting with this problem again this year. Varsity college Sandton does not care about the well-being of the students and they have proven it in the years my child has studied with them.

Here is a breakdown of our experiences with Varsity College; In 2018, my child was told she had an outstanding Computer module which she had to supplement while she had obtained a distinction for it. We tried to contact the campus and have the issue resolved but we received no assistance until we drove there. We were then told to produce evidence of the marks and they realized that whoever was invigilating on the day the module was being written opened the wrong assessment for the learner. We were then told that my daughter will have to write the exam again, which she did and it was capped at 50%. so she moved from a distinction to 50%. In 2019 my child struggled to submit a Drama portfolio and when she went to campus for assistance she could not get help from either IT nor the guys that are put to help at the library. Until the submission time hit and she went to academic reception to ask about the necessary steps from there on. She was then told right there and then that the only solution was to write to registrar but she was discouraged by a lady at customer relations to do so because registrar wouldn't take this matter serious. She told her she will have to repeat the module in the following year. We then decided to write to registrar anyway and registrar permitted her to submit and she passed. If we listened to the lady at customer relations my daughter would have had to repeat the module the following year In 2020, during online learning there came a time where blackboard was offline as they claimed to be fixing something so that it could operate better as the students were using it more than before. this happened after assessments were submitted and when blackboard was operating again lecturers could not find certain assessments. Only one lecturer contacted my child regarding this and she had to send the assessment to the lecturer for marking. When results were being released it appeared she had not submitted an assessment for Inclusive Education however she did not receive any communication from the lecturer stating that she did not submit the assessment. She then had to repeat the module the next year. In 2021 she had to supplement an Afrikaans module and when she went for script viewing on campus. There were no comments on the script, she then tried to improve the assessment in the best way possible but the marks came back the same and they stated that whatever she had fixed only summed up to 5 marks. We then took it up with you guys and only then were we assisted and she was given a chance to see the comments and resubmit. Now we are faced with an issue where her Reflective Practitioner POE mark was released last week and she obtained a distinction. Final results were released on the 12th of January and it appears she has to supplement for the same module she obtained a distinction for. We have emailed the HOD and tried to get assistance from customer relations but we cannot seem to get a clear explanation as to what happened to the distinction. We have written an unfair assessment appeal which might take another 5 working days, that is another delay and more stress for my daughter and the whole family Parents should think twice about registering their children in this institution.VC does not care about students wellbeing
