Student Advisor

I app**** as an international Student for the BA course starting this 2018 academic year and all seemed to be going well until I was unable to get the exemption from USAF and SAQA, I explained what happened to Varsity College and asked what my options are at this point. I spoke to a Student Advisor via Skype who mentioned the Higher Certificate course, and I was told I still needed SAQA for this, I once again expressed I didn't get an exemption she told me to forward my communication from them to them and that she would send it in to the registrar to see if an internal decision could be made. Two days later, I receive an offer for the Bachelor of Arts program, Naturally, I assumed a decision was made internally and I was offered a place in the program.

Fast forward two months, just as I was in the process of applying for my student visa, I am told by the same student advisor that I wouldn't be able to study at Varsity without the SAQA evaluation exemption. Bare in mind I had called Varsity College and talked to TWO other student advisors about this because I was worried it would be an issue, but I was reassured by both of them that it would not be a problem. Come to find out, the student advisor never sent the communication to the registrar up until recently, and that everyone receives an offer which states the conditions that need to be met, but I called to ask about this more than once and was told it would be fine!

For a student advisor to make such a mistake and blatantly ignore when I pointed out that it was agreed the registrar should have received this email 2 months prior is highly *********** and I have no doubt this was just a careless mistake on her end that she will not admit to which has now ended costing me my time and put a dent on my future academic plans. Either the staff needs better training or student advisors are just horrible at their jobs!
