Advertised courses not offered and no refund of pre-registration fee

We were very excited to see Varsity College Rondebosch offering a BSocSci with courses in Geography and other subjects that would be a good undergrad course for someone with an interest in Town and Urban Planning. I paid R2500 pre-registration fee in December 2023. On attempting to register for the modules in January 2024, though, the courses were not available on the online registration system. We were told to come in as it was a technical glitch. On coming into campus we were however told that the course is not being offered in 2024. However, another BSocSci had similar modules, and it might be an option to do that stream of study. However, after a few days, they then did not get sufficient students to offer that course either. As my son needs specific subjects in order to best prepare for a career in Town and Urban planning, there was no other suitable course on offer at Varsity College that might have been a suitable alternative. We had no choice but to find another institution of higher learning for my son. I have been trying to get the R2500 pre-registration fee back from Varsity College since 7 February. All the paperwork has been submitted, but to date (26 March 2024), I have received no confirmation that they have indeed received all necessary paperwork, nor that the refund has been approved, nor a date by when it will be refunded.
