Disappointing

I recently purchased a vehicle from Varnfield & Maritz Motors, and unfortunately, my experience did not meet expectations.

From the start, communication was poor. Important details about the purchase were unclear, and there were inconsistencies in the information provided. At one point, I was offered an extended warranty, only for the dealership to later realize the vehicle was still under its original manufacturer warranty. Additionally, my deposit amount was questioned, with a suggestion to lower it so the dealership could receive more commission on a higher financed amount, which felt unprofessional.

When the vehicle was collected, it was not properly cleaned. The glove compartment contained items from a previous owner, the boot had random debris, and a locking nut that didn’t fit the vehicle was found inside. Additionally, the fuel tank was nearly empty upon collection.

The biggest issue was a missing spare key, which was never disclosed before purchase, despite the dealership knowing about it. Had this been communicated upfront, I would have negotiated accordingly. After raising the issue, it took multiple follow-ups before they eventually agreed to cover the cost of a replacement.

While I appreciate that they ultimately resolved the key issue, the entire process should have been handled with more honesty, professionalism, and proper communication. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this dealership.
