Vantage happy to take premiums but hate it when you claim
My reason for writing this is simple. I just want to warn people who are thinking of insuring with them. We have been insured with Vantage for a few years now in both a personal capacity and a business capacity. What I've found is that they are happy to insure you, as long as you don't claim. In our personal capacity, we insure 2 homes, our vehicle, our contents. We had a bad year on a personal level where a few things went wrong. We had some storm damages at one residence in addition to a bad workmanship claim. Recently, someone knocked into our vehicle (purely their fault and they admitted so), as well as a few minor incidents while renovating where a tv got knocked over. So admittedly, we've had a bad year. Forgetting the number of years we have been insured with them, where claims were few and far between, this company kicked us while we were down and decided that they would no longer like to insure us because we've claimed a few times in the past 12 months. But isn't that what insurance is for? Its a product that you can TRUST to be there for you when the unforeseen occurs? Whilst things have just been going wrong of recent, surely the other years weren't that bad, and surely the coming years will get better, and they will recoup? The funny part is, we haven't even claimed damages in the hundreds of thousands, these amounts have been minor. But isn't that what insurance is about? Its a game of risk management. So they are happy to keep our business policy, but the claims on the personal side ticked them off, and so we were given the boot on the personal policy. It is disgusting to be treated they way we have been. Our brokers RBS are none the better. They have made no attempt in assisting us or meeting with us to look at possible alternatives. I'm quite astounded at all of this, given the economic crises we face as a nation. Surely there's too much business, because they certainly do not need ours. Fine, thats' their prerogative, but please do not play the company to trust, to be there for you and keep you covered, because certainly thats not what Vantage is about. They're happy as long as they take your money and don't hear from you. If you are looking at these guys as an insurance supplier, please think again. You will come to regret it if you hit a bad patch in life, and you have a few legitimate claims in a limited space of time.
