Poor Service Van Schaik

I am a third year student based in Centurion South Africa. There is a Van Schaik Bookstore near me in an area named Hatfield. About three to four weeks ago I bought several books from them. One of the books when I opened it immediately pages tore out. This continued through out the following weeks where it is at the point that the book will be useless by the end of the first semester. I called the shop in Hatfield three weeks ago, I called and called and even got the number of the manager but there was no response. Finally yesterday I made contact and despite my complaints I was told that if I don't have the original receipt they won't be able to help me. I think that is poor service and plain straight ridiculous!!!
