Pathetic service from Van Schaik Bookstore

20 January 2017

I purchased a book for my daughter online. The system indicated that the book was in stock and would be delivered within 3 days.

25 January 2017

The book was still not delivered. I called Van Schaik to find out when I could expect delivery. The consultant informed me that the book was out of stock and would be delivered once received from the publisher. I indicated that I could not wait any longer as my daughter was falling behind in school. I indicated that I would try and get the book from another bookseller and requested a refund. I was requested to submit my refund request in writing to ********** I sent the email as requested at 17h41. I then proceeded to purchase the book from another reseller.

26 January 2017

I received a phone call from another consultant asking if I wanted to be refunded to which I responded in the affirmative. She indicated that she received the email and would forward it to management for processing.

27 January 2017

Lo and behold on the 27th I receive an email from a Vivian Mackay, copying Michelle Smith and Puleng Dlamini, stating that the book had been dispatched on the 26th and would be delivered to me within 48 hours.

I responded to Vivian and indicated that I could no longer accept the book as I had already purchased the same from another book seller.

14 February 2017

The refund has not yet been done. I call the telephone number listed on the website and after holding for several minutes I was rerouted to a mailbox. Like really?

I sent a follow-up email. At the time of writing this post, no feedback had been received.
