Online ordering experience not great
I commend Van Schaik for its extension to online sales, but my first experience ordering online has not been good. I ordered two books. One was in stock; the other needed to be ordered from another supplier. The one in stock got delivered without me being notified at all, which I’ve only discovered now, one month after the fact. The only reason I found out that that book was delivered was because I was following up on the other book! It’s been two months of waiting for this book, and there is not even a sense of when it might arrive. I understand that a date can’t be guaranteed, but it is quite frustrating to plan around a resource that you are not sure when you are going to receive. Is there no way at all to get some kind of a ballpark estimate of a delivery date from third-party suppliers to communicate to your customers?
This being said though, I’m not that annoyed about the two-month wait for this book; I’m irate about the first book being delivered and me not knowing at all that it was delivered. Maybe things would be a bit better if you communicated the status of the order process through the online platform? The status of my order began and has remained as “New” all this time, which doesn’t say much about how far along the order is.
Also, I don’t know what information the call centre agents see about a given order, but an agent that I spoke to at the beginning of this month asked me whether one of the books in my order had been delivered, and I said no because I had had no communication about any of the books being delivered. But surely she should have been able to tell me with cer*****y that it HAD been delivered? Is that information not reflected when she views my order on the Van Schaik system? :?
