I bought a textbook from the van schaik store at Stellenbosch University on 14/01/21. I reserved it at the original price of R520. When I went to the store they notified me the price had gone up to R878 on 12/01/21, and me, desperate for the textbook, paid the amount. Today, however, it was brought to my attention that the price had gone down again to R567 a week after my purchase and a week and a half after the price change. I feel that preying off students who already have other financial constraints is appalling and distasteful and it just shows how the store capitalises on students who need the textbook in order to study.
