Handed over even though financial situation remains the same!!!!!!
First of all, after I was admitted to Milpark in July 2021, I didn't even hear of the drs now claiming payment until Nov or Dec last year. I've never spoken to any of them in person or over the phone. Now Van Rhyn Attorneys, who I also have never heard of, are sending me threatening emails about demanding payment and paying attorney's costs and whatnot. Ive had discussions with Milpark hospital as well as Anne Roos from the Health Department. Ive explained to both that at the time I had no medical aid, and I still dont. Also, I was taken in at Milpark because they were the only hospital accepting patients during the Delta wave. No one, including me, has ever dealt with something like the Covid pandemic, nor was it my fault that no state hospitals would take me. Your demands and ultimatums cannot change the fact that I don't have the money with which to pay you. Ive laid out my expenses to Milpark so that they could also see this. I can try and pay off the amount by R200 each month, but that is as much as I can afford. If you do continue to harass me for the full amount and other collection fees, I will report you and the drs to the relevant ombudsman. It is not fair for them and yourselves to suddenly climb out of the woodwork and start making demands. As ive explained in my email as well, ive been paying off debt via a debt consolidating company for around four years and I have longstanding monthly expenses. This leaves me with very little disposable income for food, electricity etc. Im not going to be bul**** for something that was completely out of my control. When I was admitted, I was very sick and stayed on oxygen for 8 days as well as a week at home after being discharged. Therefore it was necesary for Milpark to admit me. However, it was not in my control that they could not find a state hospital to transfer me to.
