Old Greek Church hiking route at Van Gaalens

We undertook a hike from Van Gaalen Cheese Farm to the Old Greek Church, a route given as around 13-15km. We had a bottle of water each, believing that we would be able to refill once we’d reached the church. It was extremely hot, there was no water anywhere on the route and the direction marker boards were vague and confusing. Because we love Van Gaalens and have walked the shorter routes before, my recommendation is that it is made clear at the start that there is no water en route. Also it will help if route markers provide exact distances, as there seemed to be more than one option on the same route. We got lost due to this and walked at least an extra 3-4km due to confusing route markers, we were dehydrated and suffered heat stress. The highlight of this hike, thankfully, was being able to phone Anja and have Victor come and fetch us with the Gator when, about 2,5km from the finished, I could not walk any further. We are immensely grateful for that. The whole experience can just be better if markers and distances are clear, as we met several hikers on the way who could not find the correct route and had turned around. It is also sad that the church is dilapidated and neglected, it could be a wonderful experience for *****s of hiking.
