Standard Bank Bond Attorneys Van Der Merwe Greyling Attorneys Ignoring Complaints and Putting Standard Bank Ahead of the Bond Holder

I have experienced through my interaction with Van Der Merwe Greyling Attorneys that bond attorneys appointed by the Standard Bank do not care whether you communicate with them about their poor service because Standard Bank itself ignores our complaints (refer to the Standard Bank complaint raised on the same date as this one). They are partners and I'm convinced that even my complaint was discussed between them with the consensus to ignore it.

Van Der Merwe Greyling Attorneys handled our bond application with Standard Bank and on 24 July 2023 we went to sign the bod documents and I was informed that it is mandatory that I sign the bond documents with insurance fro Standard Bank as my insurance was not yet in place. They stated that I need to put the insurance in place immediately if I want Standard Bank to not include the compulsory insurance. I then sent them the insurance documents on 26 July 2023 and they acknowledged receipt on 27 July 2023. Bear in m ind that the property was only registered in our names on 14 August 2023.

On 15 August 2023 I received an sms confirming my instalment with the amount inclusive of the insurance. I then sent an e-mail to the attorneys informing them of the insurance amount being included in our instalment and reminded them of our discussions on 24 July 2023 and copied my personal banker on the e-mail as well. I also informed them that I will lodge a complaint with the Law Society, lodge a complaint on Hellopeter and if the insurance is not cancelled to move my accounts from Standard Bank. They ignored my complaint similar to the complaint I raised with Standard Bank.

I then raised a complaint to Standard Bank (the one they ignored) against Van Der Merwe Greyling Attorneys and Standard Bank, as mentioned, ignored it to this day. I had to take the matter up with the Standard Bank Insurance Department as Van Der Merwe Greyling Attorneys did nothing to assist me. I doubt they even sent my insurance documents to Standard Bank.

How unfortunate it is that these partners can consistently ignore a client who brings them money. It's a shame. An utterly disgusting shame.
