Van Biljoens staff go do a customer service course
Worst customer service ever. On 25th January I look my Karcher WD 3 dismantled vacuum cleaners to the above company. On Tuesday the 02 February after no phone call, and having paid my R 300 cash fee for quote, I returned to Van Biljoens, to enquire on the status of the repair request, I was informed that they are still waiting for a quote from Karcher. My machine was still lying on the floor in the reception area. I raised the issue of the urgency of the repair, and also requested that they return my R 300 deposit, as we needed a vacuum, and purchase the exact one I saw at Lategans and Biljoens next door, don't know what the relationship of the 2 companies is, for R 1199. The lady supervisor then called the mechanic, that worked on the machine, who told me to be patient, and give it a day or so. I then asked him if the repair cost would exceed the the cost of a new one, and he assured me that that would never happen. Today 08/02/2020, after no call I once again visited the shop. I was asked if I received a call from them with a quote, which I have not. Within 15 minutes I was presented with a quote of about 3 times the cost of a new machine. After querying this I was informed that Karcher prices were exorbitant. The first quote printed was for about R 2500 for part alone. I then asked for a duplicate of the quote as I wanted to check with Karcher how tis is possible. I noticed that this qouate was much cheaper a R 1350, I queried this with the supervisor lady, and she denied this. I how-ever took the quote and have now lost my deposit as I have received a quote which I did not accept. I phoned Karcher who quoted me around R 930. I returned to the company and requested to speak to the manager. I was informed that it takes time to get quotes and that they have to wait for Lategan and Van Biljoens to give it to them, which is right next door. The points of disgust are is that both the technician and lady have worked in this environment for years, and should they not have known that the cost of repairing Karchers is more expensive then purchasing a new one, but how ever I was given assurance by the mechanic that that is not the case thus delaying the process to ensure me losing my R 300 deposit. The lady surely would have had many similar repairs and could have told me that it would be more expensive, and I would have gone straight and purchased the new unit next door at Lategans and Biljoen. Can it really take 2 weeks to work out a quote if the parts shop is next door, or they could have just picked up and phoned Karcher and would have gotten a price. Why could I get not one but 2 quotes within 20 minutes once I went to see them. Also another irking factor is why the excessive mark-up on the part from Lategans and Biljoen? So after 2 weeks of living in a dirty home I eventually had to buy a new machine obviously not from them, and lost my R 300 deposit, I hope their shareholders are happy.
