DO NOT GO TO VALLEY FARM ANIMAL HOSPITAL (except if you've got a lot of money)

Valley Farm Animal Hospital will definitely NEVER see me again, and I will also tell it to everyone I know. They have got 16 vets, each with their own name plate on the wall at the entrance. Everything looks very impressive and state of the art, but I promise you, you are paying for it and those vets are not going to retire poor... If you go to Valley Farm be prepared to leave with a VERY big account. My 8 year old dog spent +_ 45 minutes there. They put her on a drip for IV fluids, did blood tests and a x-ray. The heartbreaking news was that they didn't really know what was wrong, they wanted to keep her overnight and if she made it through the night, do more tests the following day. She was bleeding from "some where"...?? and apparently had very low kidney function. The prognoses wasn't good. After discussing costs (one unfortunately have to) and again the prognoses it was sadly decided to put her down. I honestly did not have R15 000 - R20 000, for more tests and to keep her there for a few days - with very little guarantee of her getting well again. The above, thus a drip (with only fluids, no medication), blood tests, a x-ray and then the euthanasia left me with an account of R6000 and I had to go home in tears without my dog.... Please rather support your local vet!!! and not Valley Farm Animal Hospital. I recently phoned them (just for interest sake) to find out how much they charge for the sterilization of a big female dog (boerboel +_ 45kg) - R4 140. I then phoned Wet Nose and asked the same question. Guess how much - R1 500. And my local vet charges R2 150. You are welcome to confirm above first 2 prices. They are just absolutely ridiculous.
