In desperate need of customer service training!

So my friends decided to host my bachelor party at this venue, rightfully so as it’s marketed to host “Bachelor Functions”. Our first experience was not the most welcoming. All required deposits were paid, yet the venue seemed clueless that our crew of 8 was going to check in that day. We were left standing awkwardly at the entrance gate until something was arranged and then allowed in.

We were shown our living quarters next. It felt awkward again as the reception table was right next to the entrance of our room. The host(Isaac) seemed like a miser as he whined about switching on the deep freezer unnecessarily to save electricity, and also switching off lights if they were not going to be used. Now I understand that one should not waste electricity but it’s clearly poor etiquette to tell that to a guest so bluntly! Who does he think he is telling guests whether or not to use appliances or switch off lights if not needed as everything was paid for?!

We had a good night nevertheless. The next morning, we were rudely surprised by strangers/guests walking up to the reception table whilst our personal belongings were lying around. I was very annoyed by this! What kind of establishment places their reception desk next to the guests’ personal living space? It’s ridiculous! If we weren’t alert, any valuables could have been ******! Speaking of theft, I was disgusted by the level of dishonesty by the staff at this venue. My brothers cap and my new pair of takkies were “misplaced” and left behind. When I called and spoke to Isaac, he told me that the staff did not report any guest items being left behind. This is a clear example of staff *****ing guest’s belongings and not reporting it. I was told that I would get a call back to let me know whether or not my takkies and the cap was left behind but Isaac clearly didn’t bother.

Overall, the aesthetics of the venue were nice, except for the reception desk next to the living quarters, however I give this venue a very poor rating mainly because of their sloppy customer experience. The booking process needs to be more refined as well. We expected better treatment but this was sub-standard. The final nail in the coffin was my takkies not being reported and this should clearly raise the alarm bells for anyone visiting Vaal Streams as theft is no-go for any establishment.
