******** Diesel Price Charged Before Official Increase Date
I would like to formally raise a concern regarding what I experienced at TotalEnergies. On the morning of 25/03/2025, I went to fill up my vehicle in anticipation of the upcoming fuel price increase. As is publicly communicated, fuel price adjustments are expected to take effect on 01/04/2025, and therefore there was no reason for me to question the price at the time of filling. To my surprise, I was charged R29.69 per litre for diesel. When I raised this concern with the staff, I was informed that this garage had already implemented the price increase on 24/03/2026. I found this explanation both confusing and unacceptable, as it contradicts the regulated national fuel price adjustment dates. I was left with no option but to proceed with payment under protest. This experience made me feel taken advantage of and deeply concerned about business practices that appear to disregard government-regulated pricing structures. As consumers, we rely on transparency and adherence to official regulations. Situations like this erode trust and place an unfair burden on customers. I believe this matter deserves investigation to ensure that fuel retailers comply with the prescribed pricing policies and timelines. I felt it necessary to report this incident so that appropriate action can be taken and to prevent other consumers from experiencing similar treatment.
