Overselling - Safety risk - crowd control

On our 3rd visit to Ushaka on 4 January 2018 we had a pleasant shark cage and Ocean walk experience. The mArine tank displays are phenominal. The dolphin show was great apart from an Afrikaans speaking patron who was extremely abusive to all around him. Individuals such as these should be removed from the park but due to a lack of security and staff compared to the no of people let in to the facility such individuals have such freedom.

On entering the water park we turned around and left teh facility all together since there was no space for an ant to move. The park has capacity for a certai amount of people to have a pleasant and relaxing experience but since the Park seems to be driven by Revenue rather than customer satisfaction the place is allowed to be overcrowded which is a potential safety and security risk of great magnitude and a disaster waiting to happen. It was evident on entry that one would queue in excess of an hour to merely participate in one of the rides due to the magnitude of people let in. We attempted to reach the lawn but could not locate any seating whatsoever between the already squashed sardines. The idea is to go and have a relaxing time with your kids, not get nto a worse rat race and tense environment which is what one wants to escape from to begin with.

When trading licences are granted to private companies limitations are set to ensure safe environments, however since the theme park is city owned, it just doesn't seem to matter much.

Although the Theme park stretches over 15 hectares, the waterpark occupation capacity should be considered on it's own as there is a separate controlled entrance and sufficient space should be provided for all patrons to comfortably enjoy the visit.

Hopefully Stella Khumalo would consider this a firm warning to comply with reasonable standards before she finds herself explaining publicly why she is the cause of injury or death to many due to greed. Surely this is not the the Council's only source of Revenue which should be exploited to te max.

Good day,

Thank you for taking your time in giving us feedback. At uShaka Marine World we strive to commit to our guests having an experience that is fun, exciting and to receive excellent service. We understand your frustration, however December/January is our peak season and when we do reach our capacity we do stop ticket sales to ensure we comply with health and safety regulations. During this peak season we did not reach capacity and thus we continued with sales.

Apologies for you experience and we wish you and your family a prosperous year ahead.

Take care and hope to see you soon at uShaka Marine World.
