Disguisting Customer Service

On Saturday night we decided to go to Spur at Ushaka as we had my sons birthday voucher and wanted to get out. at the end on the evening we went to the boom gate to pay, handed the lady my bank card and my slip. she didnt even greet us and just said "we dont take cards" so i reversed and went to the ATM, but of course my withdrawal limit had been reached.... so now we sit with a problem.

so we went back to the boom gate and asked the lady to please call her manager so we could speak to him. after 20 minutes of waiting the parking Manager - Gabriel came to the car. he was very rude and obnoxious

he said we must read the sign at the entrance which stated that they were cash only... at this stage my son was asleep in the car and i got out to read the sign and no where does it stipulate that they were cash only. after much debate he told us that we were to sleep in the car as it was not his problem that we dont have cash on us. surely not everyone carries cash on them all the time. his attitude was "thats why we have ATM's for people to draw money from to pay at the boom" after taking down his name and saying we were going to complain, he took out a little book, wrote down our reg and began to question me, what was my name , my ID number and my contact details.... he then further questioned me to ask me what my address was, as a South African Citizen i have a right and i told him that he doesnt need to know my address.

after 45 minutes of waiting we eventually got somone to bring us the R16 for the parking, after all the waiting it had now gone upto R17 which was not an issue to pay, the issue was that we could not draw the cash and a big organisation like uShaka should have a card facility on hand at all times.

Gabriel and his teller a the boom were very unprofessional and unhelpful to say the least. my son was fast asleep in the car the entire time.

the fact of the matter here is the customer is always right, as a manager, Gabriel should have known how to handle a sitution like this and been professional and understanding. the fact that he interrigated us like ********* and told us to sleep in the car its not his problem, is completely unacceptable. we had the money just not in cash. this is a big disappointement as we love going to ushaka.
