********* Behaviour of The University of the Free State

Please be wary when dealing with the University of the Free State. I app**** for a course, got accepted for a higher level of qualification course and accepted the offer.

When I was busy trying to register, I realised that the course offered would not suite my requirements. I asked to change courses but was informed that the university could not accommodate me with changing courses and that I should I apply for a refund of the R7400 that I paid as a registration fee. I app**** for the refund on 02 March 2022.

The university advertises that if you apply for a refund prior to 31 March 2022, you are entitled to a FULL refund. I re-iterate that my application for a refund was submitted on 02 March 2022.

After numerous follow ups , I eventually got refunded on 12 April . However, my refund was for a mere 66% of the amount that I paid.

I paid R7400 and got a refund of R4915.

I was informed that there now suddenly is a minimum refund amount.

I believe that my refund request was deliberately delayed in order to get out of refunding me the full amount due.

I am not impressed with this ********* behaviour of the institution and I shall be exploring options to take this matter further.
