UFS: No empathy for their students

Last year (2023), I app**** and got accepted into the UFS to participate in the CFP program under the School of Financial Planning and Law. To secure my acceptance, I paid the registration costs; however, due to circumstance beyond my control I didn’t have the financial means to participate in the program. Today, I was awarded a ZAR 25k outstanding bill for not even attending a single class. Tersia Viljoen (Assistant Director of Finance) treated my case with a lack of empathy and reffed me to the student handbook about cancelling my studies and defaulting on my payments. For those that want to study, my advice is don’t attend UFS, further more don’t pay registration costs if you can’t afford to pay the full program. Today, I have to pay R 25k for a product that I have not consumed. And if I don’t reach an agreement in repaying them the funds, then the student handout states that they will hand me over to debt collections.
