handing over of account and unfair blacklisting

<p>I am very disappointed at how the parties below handled the account I have with the University of the Free State. I was just trying to get an education through the institution and to my surprise I ended up with a judgment on my name.</p> <p> </p> <p>University of the Free State</p> <p>I contacted the University of the Free State today querying the outstanding amount on the university account and trying to settle it. I then spoke to the University’s finance representative who then told me that the account has been handed over to some attorneys and she gave me an amount of R9672 which I am blacklisted on. </p> <p>Following our conversation I then informed here that a court order was issued on this account and I was never summoned to court and I was never made aware of the handing over of the account to any attorneys. To my surprise no attorneys ever contacted me regarding the account to inform if of the account being handed over and me being summoned to court or making any payments arrangements onto the account. I queried what processes were taken to blacklist me and she said I have to communicate directly with the attorneys. I then ended our conversation and contacted the attorneys immediately.</p> <p> </p> <p>Pieter Skein Attorneys</p> <p>To my shock I was transferred to a woman who deals with the UFS accounts, she was extremely rude on the phone and didn’t want to listen to what I had to say without interrupting. I queried why I never received and form of communication regarding the account and what processes were followed to have me blacklisted. She informed me that she spoke to me on the 28th of March regarding the account and I said she has to phone me back after 3pm.</p> <p>According to Transunion, the account was listed on the 4th of October 2016 as a judgement and the attorneys are claiming that they contacted me two months ago? What could have happened between the 4th of October 2016 and the 28 of March 2017? I do not have any formal communication from the attorneys about the account.</p> <p>Could this be a way of the University trying to sabotage people’s successes by have such measures in place? Doing business with people who are *********** and taking short cuts ********ly blacklisting people? What worse can happen to a poor African child trying to get an education and only to have dreams shuttered in such a manner?</p> <p>I am taking this matter to the media as well as societies governing the Law profession, as well as those that deals with higher education on South Africa. I am also involving the credit regulator in this instance, I will be paying the amount which I am blacklisted on by tonight and I hope that I will receive a paid up letter within seven days. Proper communication to be conducted with all the parties involved including the credit bureau where my name will be delisted. I will not be communicating with anyone telephonically, therefore I expect any communication conducted via email also be advised that I will be writing a complain on all forms of media available.</p> <p> </p>
