Lazy, rude, unhelpful admissions department. Also, spam.

I submitted an application for post-graduate studies several weeks ago via UCT's online applications platform. Note that this is the only method via which one is able to apply.

My application requires several supporting documents to be attached, however, the form literally doesn't allow for this. When I contacted the respective department liaison I was told that applications can only be changed by the applications department.

It's been a little over two weeks and I've no response from the applications department in spite of numerous emails. The one time they deigned to answer their phones I was berated by a very unpleasant woman who told me only that "I must wait". I've now received an email to say that my application has been forwarded to the department for consideration, presumably without the required supporting documents. In desperation, I contacted the professor in charge to explain what was happening only to be directed back to the useless admissions department.

As things stand, I expect I'll be rejected and there'll be no appeal and no recourse against the lazy and rude admissions department.

PS: Be aware that when submitting your details to UCT, someone is capturing them and adding you to spam distribution lists. I know because the address and password in question are unique to their application form.
