Don't use Universal Paints! Inferior Quality of Paint!

<p>Bought 3 tins of paint at Universal Paints in Fourways. Only to have the painter try and use them and we were highly disappointed with all 3 of them! The enamel is so thin it does not even cover paper. On the phone the shop assistant tells me to stir the paint, I shook the can and stirred it, the painter stirred it and then my brother and mother also stirred it, and still no difference. The enamel also bubbles when it is put over another enamel that has been on the gate for the last 5 years, which is strange. As most enamels are thick and cover anything. The PVA you need to do 4 coats compared with a quality paint which you need to do 2 coats. Although shop assistant admits I bought inferior paint, but he gladly took my money yesterday and did not inform me thereof before I made my purchase. I take the paint back to the shop & ask for a refund for the inferior paint quality. Shop assistant tells me their paint is the best - but clearly the proof is in the pudding. They then proceed to mix/ stir/ shake the paint in their machine, for 10 minutes, to tell me that the paint is now fine, so I said well imagine that I don't have a fancy machine to stir the paint at home. Which means they did not mix it right in the first place or the paint is old, because it seperates. I went to Builders Hardware and used their entry level products and it was 100x better than Universal Paints, and Builders still said if I used the paints and were not happy they would give me a full refund. Universal Paints told me to contact my lawyer!Universal eventually refunded me for the PVA. But no refund for the 2 tins of enamel I bought because it had been used, I am not quite sure how I was to sniff that the paint was not quality paint without using it . Do yourself a favour if you do not want to be disappointed, then I suggest that you do not use this brand. It's like throwing money down the drain.</p>
