Unfair packaging charges
I was at your Benmore store and bought chilli loaf at R140.99 per kg, along with sausages. The person behind the counter weighed the loaf on a large foam tray — it came to R36.20. Then he cling-wrapped it, weighed it again, and suddenly the price jumped to R37.87. When I questioned this, I was told I had to pay for the cling wrap because “they buy it.” That is outrageous.
When you advertise a product at R140.99 per kg, that price should already include the tray and cling wrap. No customer should be charged extra after the product is wrapped. The tray should have been tared on the scale, the correct price printed, and then the cling wrap app**** without adding more cost What you’re doing is misleading and unfair — depending on how much cling wrap is used, the price can keep climbing. This is not about the few rands, it’s about the principle. I have never seen a butchery or store pull something like this. You are making customers pay for packaging that should already be factored into the advertised price. What’s next — charging us for the price label too? It’s unacceptable, dishonest, and frankly insulting to your customers.
