United Decking - NOT RELIABLE/TRUSTWORTHY

Deck was reasonably well installed and back up service initially as agreed.

HOWEVER substantial damage was done to window panes and brand-new glass sliding door panes when deck's structure was welded.

No care was taken to protect windows when welding, which resulted in extensive burn marks from the welding sparks.

Initially ***mi, the owner agreed to attend to this matter after coming to site to inspect. While my partner at the time was to be dealing with this, I left the matter to be resolved; time passed, COVID happened and circumstances changed for me personally and it was left longer than it should have been, unresolved. This should not have affected the supplier’s responsibility in the matter. ***mi, reneged on his original offer and refused point blank to accept any responsibility for their carelessness and the damage caused. Further he then began to argue that repairs done for warped facia boards were not valid repairs. One wonders how as an owner one could cause boards to warp having been advised that this was likely to occur due to expansion and contraction from the changing seasons and weather conditions. Part of the contract specifies a return to adjust any such issues.

The attitude was disappointing and sadly means that this is not a trustworthy supplier who takes pride in their work or accepts responsibility should anything go wrong.
