UNISA issued wrong degree on graduation day

Good Day.

I graduated on the 29/03/22 at 10:00am for Bed in foundation phase with language of learning: English and Xitsonga. After receiving my degree I learned that Xitsonga language was ommited. I enquired about it at OR Tambo building and was sent to SunnySide campus for assistance because only the College of Education manager could make the appropriate changes.

I went to the campus and spoke to Leoni Van de Linder, the "college of education manager" and she informed me that there is nothing she can do to change it because once the degree is printed and handed out, no corrections or alterations can be made and I just have to accept it. She added that the other option would be for her write me a letter stating that the university made a printing error on my degree, and this letter will work as an affidavit that I will infinitely attach to the degree whenever I use it. All this letter states is my completion of teaching practice which is completely different to what Leoni explained. (Letter Attached)

Afterwards she sent me back to OR Tambo building to see if maybe, someone will be able to rectify this mistake as it is not her responsibility and this effort was not fruitful either.

After the combined efforts from my frustrated family, we got hold of the graduation manager Lilly Morwa who explained that she spoke to Leoni about rectifying this mistake and she is surprised that there has been no resolve in over 4 hours. Ms morwa then took my degree and said she will make attempts to solve this mess and will call me when all is sorted, ideal as this may be, It makes absolutely no sense that the executives of the university signed off on an incorrect document and all I get is an unknown waiting period.

I have potential job opportunities that are pending receipt of this degree. After the events today I am incredibly disappointed with professionalism, the lack thereof rather, from the University's end and particularly Leoni who was dismissive and condescending in all her responses.

Today was meant to be joyful day but instead it's cost me and my family a lot emotionally and financially since we travelled from Mpumalanga to attend a graduation, where I actually received a degree that isn't a true reflection of my hardwork.

I hereby request that the university promptly rectifies this and bears the responsibility of getting my degree to my hands as it was supposed to happen today.
